Summary/Abstract: Sofronie Miclescu has been bishop of Huşi and metropolitan of Moldavia. The activity held in the context of political and cultural from the middle nineteenth century. Natural defender of the church and schools, was an ardent supporter of the Union of the Romanian Principalities, president of the Ad-hoc Divan of Moldova and the Assembly which elected ruler Alexandru Ioan Cuza, and later opponent of his reforms. Sofronie Miclescu translated books, was interested the instruction of priests, observance of religious rules and the development of schools. In libraries and archives are preserved documents on his relations with the authorities in political, economic and cultural aspects. Opponent of reforms which affected the Orthodox Church, to first life, Sofronie Miclescu he came into confllict with the government forced to resign from the rank of metropolitan and they sent him into exile to the monastery.
