Summary/Abstract: Language as a system of signs has its center and periphery. The center of the lexical system of language consists of stably and actively used words, the form and semantics of which correspond to the current lexical and word-formative norm. The periphery of this system is mainly rarely used words, the form and / or semantics of which do not meet current standards. Occasionalisms can: 1) verbalize new concepts or new aspects of known concepts or 2) implement new techniques for the linguistis form of concepts and their aspects. They expand or deepen the cognitive space of language, created by concepts whose verbalization meets language norms.
