The COVID-19 pandemic – a turning point in library activities on the example of the Library of Lodz University of Technology

Summary/Abstract: There were many turning points in the history of libraries, which resulted in changes in their function. In spite of this, various libraries still exist, develop and function dynamically. This paper discusses the academic libraries’ situation after the COVID-19 pandemic. In March 2020 traditional services were temporarily suspended, which could cause a feeling of anxiety among employees and library users. Changes in the work organization and providing services were presented on the example of the Library of Lodz University of Technology by transferring the services into virtual reality. Attention was paid to the new e-services and plans which the library has elaborated due to the pandemic situation.
