Summary/Abstract: The scholar hereby reviews both the archaeological discoveries and the first historical references of settlements in the Sebes River area, the Mures River left branch. The settlements migrated from their initial meadow location to the mountain parts up to the 13th century. The river as such was originally referred to as “Frumoasa”, while the two other branches bear Romanian- Slav names (Bistra, Dobra). The Magyars, upon their entering the region, translated the Romanian denomination (szép = beautiful).
