Fine Feathers Make Fine Birds. Linguacultural Worldview Entrenched in Unofficial Anthroponyms of Łazy, Majdów and Ciechostowice in the Szydłowiec County

Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the linguistic and cultural view of the world captured in unofficial anthroponyms functioning in three villages located in the Szydłowiec district in the southern part of the Masovian Voivodeship. The data consists of nicknames that collected by the author during dialectological interviews with inhabitants who use both dialect and general Polish. The analysis clearly demonstrates the unflagging popularity of nickname formations in Łazy, Majdów and Ciechostowice. In addition, the presented material shows the underlying cultural and moral sphere of a specific rural community: the world of values and specific cultural patterns behind naming practices.
