Summary/Abstract: The paper ponders upon the problem of correspondence between the Warsaw dialect and the pre-war Polish language in the novel “Zły” (“The Man with White Eyes”) by Leopold Tyrmand. The analysis, situated within a study of the author’s language, is focused on selected examples excerpted from the novel. The cultural entrenchment of the lexis used in the novel is discussed, both from a universal and a national standpoint.
