Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the burials in the cultural layer of Chekon settlement excavated by A. I. Yudin in 2018. In total, a little more than 10 burials have been identified on the site, in pits – mud huts or beyond. The discovered burials differ in many respects from the traditions of the Maikop practice of burying countrymen in barrows. But we can assume that these burials were committed by the inhabitants of the village. As a result, we can say that we are faced with a fundamentally new type of funerary practice for the bearers of the Maykop-Novosvobodnaya community.
