Summary/Abstract: Teohari Georgescu was one of the important leaders during the beginning years of Romanian communism. A printer, Georgescu, was arrested and incarcerated several times until 1944 for illegal communist activity. After 1945 he was appointed Minister of Internal Affairs and had an important contribution to imposing a Stalinist communist regime. Together with Ana Pauker and Vasile Luca they set up a political faction. In 1952 they were accused of “right deviation” and removed from all leadership positions. Teohari Georgescu was arrested and interrogated by the Securitate until 1956, when he was released and sent to the printing shop where he had worked. In 1968, he was rehabilitated by Nicolae Ceauşescu.
