Summary/Abstract: In this article the author presents briefly the life of Daniel Ciugureanu, an important fighter for the Union of Basarabia with Romania. Born in the Hotin county, graduated from medicine in Kiev, doctor Ciugureanu got involved from the beginning in the fight for the emancipation of the Romanians of Basarabia. He got elected in the council of the country and after as the President of the council of ministers of the Democratic Republic of Moldova. He was one of the leaders that fought for the Union during 1917-1918. After the Union he occupied important positions – minister for Basarabia in the Romanian government, deputy, senator, vice president of the Chamber of Deputies, vice president and president of the Senate. For his political activity, after the Second World War, he was arrested (5-6 of May 1950), and died under suspicious conditions, in Turda.
