The Arbure family from Vorona

Summary/Abstract: The present study belongs to the series of those studies which emphasize the importance of genealogical research and of territorial possessions in order to establish historical realities. The first part presents the descendants of the well- known boyar Luca Arbure, who carried on during the reigns of Stephen the Great, Bogdan the Third and Stephen the Young, who took and kept his name to the detriment of their father’s name. The second part brings forward the relation between the successors that are mentioned above and one of the properties inherited from the former boyar, Vorona, from Suceava land, arguing for the idea that the village was the starting point of this people.
