Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to discuss the outline of the Nartional Bank of Poland's interest rate policy in response to the economic crisis caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic in the period from March to August 2020, i. e. during the first wave of the pandemic. In addition, the actions of the Polish authorities, known as anti-crisis shields, were presented. A comparison was also made of the interest rates set by the central banks of other countries, expecially in highly developed countries, but also, for example, in Venezueal, plunged in a deep political and economic crisis. The text uses the appropriate research methods: statistical, comparative and institutional and legal analysis.
