Summary/Abstract: The period between the two World Wars was for Romania the most favorable period of time to solve the most pressing problems. One of problems was that in 1918 Romania recovered the lost territories during th war and therefore the territorial was just one step in a laborious process. The elimination of differences between territories and populations was the main objective after the Great Union, in order to obtain a better functioning of the newly created state. In order to do that, Dimitrie Gusti, the leader of the Sociological School from Bucharest, created a method to analyze in full detail the social realitites, named the monographic method. One of the advantages of this method is the fact that the researcher is in direct contact with the local reality, fact which helps the researcher to produce an overall picture that does not bring any prejudice to the reality. Another advantage is that the monograph is at the same time a system and also a method of research.
