Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with demonological folktales and beliefs recorded in the Dalmatian area, which are being passed down for decades now from generation to generation. Demonological folktales describe human encounters with the demonological, supernatural beings, which, among others, include witches, mares, magicians, werewolves, plague and others. Such beings mostly appear in the late-night hours and disappear in the early morning, with the sounds of the first roosters. This paper presents its own field records gathered from the area of the Dalmatian hinterland, and they are compared to the other field records from Dalmatia and the surrounding areas. The aim of this paper is to preserve folk tales and beliefs in which the people still believe today.
