OVERVIEW OF SELECTED EMPIRICAL RESEARCH - THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL APPROACH TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF MEASURING INSTRUMENTS

Summary/Abstract: Creating of new knowledge in the research field is taking place at a high speed, while at the same time it remains fragmented and interdisciplinary. The challenge is to keep up with the latest developments and to assess accumulated evidence in a particular area of research. That is why the review of literature as a research method is becoming increasingly important, and additionally provides an overview of areas where research is diverse and interdisciplinary. A review of the literature is an excellent way to synthesize research findings to provide meta-level evidence and simultaneously identify areas that seek for additional research, which is a critical component of creating theoretical frameworks and building conceptual models. The paper provides an overview of selected empirical literature relevant to the scale development, which includes a number of studies proposing current practices of the scale development process, the current limitations, and recommendations for further upgrade of scale development process.
