Summary/Abstract: Transylvanian Volunteer Corps was composed by Romanian soldiers from Transylvania, who fought alongside the Romanian army during World War I. With these units, the Transylvanian Romanians joined the Romanian army during World War I, in order to liberate Transylvania and to unite it with the Motherland, Romania. The first military unit that will join the Romanian army will consist of Transylvanian volunteers set up in camp prisoners of Darna, near Kiev in the autumn of 1916. On February 23, 1917 the Romanian Ministry of War issues the order no. 1191 that establishes Corps Volunteers Transylvania, Bukovina in Russia. On May1 8, 1917 the command of the Romanian Volunteer Corps, begin preparations for sending the first echelon of volunteers from Transylvania and Bukovina. On July 20, 1917 May inbound 650 other volunteers. And they are given the same regiment as the first echelon and on the August 1, 1917 go to the front in the units to which they are assigned. On the first day of the offensive in Mărăşeşti, volunteers enter into combat, especially in the localities Zăbrăuţi and Fitionesti. The contribution of volunteers to the cause of the territorial unity of our people is a historical fact of profound significance. Great victory gained by the Romanian armies against the Central Powers has its therefore its source of strength and continuity in the united struggle of all our nation's sons without any demarcation of the geographical area of origin or the battle front on which were as combatants.
