Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the attitude of Czech and Slovak college students toward learning Spanish with native and non-native teachers. The research is being conducted to verify the prominence of the native speaker as a role model in learning a foreign language. A questionnaire was used to find out from the students’ perspective the advantages and disadvantages of learning the language with a native teacher and a non native teacher. The results have helped to establish that there is no supremacy of one type of teacher, as they complement each other at different stages of the learning process.
