Summary/Abstract: In the course of history, the suicidal acts haves hocked either by the brutality with which the y were committed or by the causes, mostly absurd, that determined them. The attempts to explain the decision to resort to such a gesture – to put an end to one’s own life as a supreme form of self- aggression – have been the concern of specialists from different areas. Suicide in the world registers nearly one million people yearly. About 10-20 million people have suicidal attempts every year. The real number of people com mitting suicide is probably much higher, because some of the death shave been considered and recorded as accidents. In the world, suicide is the eighth cause of death in man and the sixteenth in women, and among the people between the ages of 10 and 24, suicide is the third cause of death.
