Summary/Abstract: The authoritarian tendencies that have come to dominate this part of the 21st century pose a security threat. With a world in a continuous globalization, populist leaders are using these tendencies to take power and extend their prerogatives in a seemingly democratic way. As the populists accept themselves only as true representatives of the people, their capacity for splitting and division must not be left unattended. The populist idea of an authentic and homogeneous people is a dangerous fantasy with extremely diverse repercussions.
