Summary/Abstract: Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda can be achieved by the effort of all stakeholders: individuals, companies, institutions, non-governmental organizations, governments. The paper shows the important role played by corporate social responsibility to achieving these goals with a focus on the fifth one – Gender Equality. The research is focused on Romania. The research objectives are: establishing the level of goal attainment in European Union, analyzing the differences between the countries, highlighting the good practices, put Romania in the European context, identify the causes for the gender equality situation in the country and offering recommendations for improving the attainment of this goal. The methodology consists in analyzing Eurostat data and conducting qualitative research for presenting gender equality in Romania. The results provide a background that can explain the obstacles and challenges faced by Romanian women and the solutions that can be implemented at different levels to improve gender equality.
