Summary/Abstract: Today we are surprised to hear those who do not know how to use a smartphone. Because the smart phone has entered our lives so much that the oldest to the youngest everyone uses it. Students cannot leave their smartphones even in the classroom. This leads to some problems for students in their lives. The aim of this research was to reveal the problems that students face as a result of excessive use of smart phones. For this purpose, fifty university freshman students were asked to express whether they were dependent on the smart phone and the problems they encountered as a result of excessive use of smart phones. Data were collected by semi-structured interview form. Data were analysed by content analysis. As a result of the research, it was found that most of the students were smart phone addicts. It has been found that excessive use of smartphones leads to health, individual, social, school and family problems. The most important problems encountered in health are lacrimation, increased level of myopia and increased pain in the eyes and dry eyes. Problems such as anxiety disorder, pain in the neck and hands, and numbness and distractibility were also expressed. In terms of school, the most important problems are devoting most of time to smart phone and resulting less study lesson and read book.
