Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the subject of managing the museum collection on the example of the Salty Bread project by contemporary Krakow artist Natalia Wierni which took place in 2016 at the Krakow Saltworks Museum in Wieliczka. The project was focused on the artist’s work with the collection and space of the museum, the potential of which was an inspiration to create artistic works. Wiernik, using photography, video and performative activities, raised issues related to the specifics of a place such as a mine — museum, its role in the protection of mining heritage and reflection on a museum exhibit on the example of the salt cellars collection. The Salty Bread has shown that the museum collection has an enormous potential and its proper management and use can bring very positive effects for both the museum institution and its audience and employees.
