Summary/Abstract: The paper explores the reciprocity of relations between the Kingdoms of France and Hungary, and the possibility of an anti-Habsburg alliance system in the period indicated in the title. It comes to the conclusion that the French were unfamiliar with the region and its peculiarities. For them, the Hungarian Kingdom was only relevant as the member of a wider Central European alliance network, which also included the Polish and Czech monarchies. Consequently, their diplomatic efforts yielded no durable foreign political results in the form of alliance.
