Summary/Abstract: The challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic (high workload, pressure, high risk of infection, inadequate resources) can affect the mental health of healthcare professionals, especially in terms of their level of burnout. During the COVID-19 outbreak, the prevalence of burnout among health care workers ranged from 13% to 51%. The medical staff has a limited number of resources and has to deal with a large number of requests. There is a need to start a dialogue on public policies that could help reducing burnout or on managerial practices that can be implemented in hospitals. This can reduce the risks caused by inadequate health care due to burnout.
