Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to rationalise the functioning of the League of Nations High Commissioners in the Free City of Danzig (Gdansk). It focuses on the person of High Commissioner Manfredi Gravina of Italian nationality, active in the Free City in 1929–1932, trying to remove from him the label of an anti-Polish politician.
