Summary/Abstract: Development of new technologies imposes the use of continuous professional training of the teachers. It is no longer a matter of choice for the teacher, since lifelong learning has become a necessity. Digital competency has become a keyword in discussions about skills that pupils will need in the knowledge society. In order for pupils to adopt knowledge and skills that are required by modern society, it is necessary for teachers to train the pupils to learn and communicate within the informatics society. Teachers’ role is to use digital technology in all phases of educational process; both in the curricular and extracurricular activities, starting from planning, over class realization, until evaluation of the pupils. Within the use of digital technologies, a special accent is put on incitement to achieve results of learning. Teachers need to follow progress and development in all spheres of breeding and education, particularly the development of technology. The task of educational authorities is to provide continuous professional qualifications in order to develop and raise the level of digital competencies to a higher level. The goal of this research is to determine the level of digital competencies of class teachers at elementary schools within Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. The sample taken was 103 teachers from 7 elementary schools from the area of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. To collect data, we used a Likert scale technique, whilst the questionnaire has been specially designed for the needs of this research. The research results have shown that there is a progress in development of digital competencies of class teachers.
