Summary/Abstract: Over the last decades, women’s participation in the labour market has significantly increased. However, women are often paid less than men and are over-represented in part-time and informal jobs, facing gender barriers in their careers. A number of researchers have emphasized the flexible role of women in the labor market, while attempting to analyse the gender discrimination and sexist prejudices in the business environment through the notion of “glass ceiling”. “Glass Ceiling” is a term used to describe the “invisible” barriers that women face within their workplace. In this article, I attempt to highlight, through my ethnographic example in a door to door marketing company in Thessaloniki (Greece), the relationship between women and entrepreneurship, as well as the way in which the phenomenon of “glass ceiling” exists and affects women’s work. My research is based on the methods of participant observation, self-observation, reflexivity, formal and informal interviews, as well as the use of audiovisual material.
