Summary/Abstract: The article describes, in a biographical context, the circumstances of creating the manuscript of Andrzej Tretiak’s (1886–1944) translation of Joseph Conrad’s novel An Outcast of the Islands, entitled Rozbitek from 1914, which was preserved in the Archive of Ostap Ortwin in Lviv at the Ossolineum National Institute. Several texts by A. Tretiak (concerning Conrad) in the field of literary criticism, published in magazines, are also cited.
