Summary/Abstract: Individual attitudes on work and professional choices makes vocational counsellors seek new ways of helping young people choose their professions properly. The paper discusses the main adolescent career design aspects: values, motivation, interpersonal relations and support of relatives. The paper presents the main theories of L. Holland, D. Super and E. Ginzberg. These theories are fundamental for adolescents career counsellors in realizing pre-career programs. The aim of the paper is to analyze the factors promoting successful career planning and the professional choices of adolescents. The research method used is scientific literature analysis. 34 positions are analyzed, 7 of them in Lithuanian, 3 in Polish and 24 in English. The analysis of scientific literature can distinguish the main factors that contribute to successful adolescent career planning and professional choices. The most important factors are: self-knowledge, vocational self-identity and establishment of necessary skills and values. An important impact on adolescent vocational self-identity is made by relatives, teachers and friends. So, the important thing is to involve others, especially parents and teachers, in vocational counselling and intervention.
