Summary/Abstract: Based on the documents from the Central Committee Fund of the Romanian Communist Party, the Foreign Relations Department of the Central National Historical Archives and on secondary sources as well as memorial literature published in Romania and the Russian Federation, the article brings forth novel insights on the Romanian-Soviet historiographical disputes during the „stagnation” period (1965-1985). It also shows that the controversial topics which appeared during the time of Leonid Brezhnev, remained on the agenda of Romanian-Soviet relations once Yuri Andropov took power in Kremlin – a little known development up until now.
