On the Bulgarian Essayism

Summary/Abstract: The short aphoristic text from 1943 raises some questions about the reception of the essay form in Bulgaria. The author finds some of the Bulgarian essay writers somewhat arrogant and overvaluing themselves. The arrogance comes from the wrong self-assessment and the misconception that the literary genres evolve as if they are living organisms and that the essay genre is at the top of this evolution.
