Summary/Abstract: In the global economy, there is a tendency for changes in industrial policy. These changes encompass a series of innovations in production structures and the international market. It implies the entry of new actors into the world economic scene, such as China, Russia and India. The changes also include institutional changes that should lead to comprehensive European integration. Hence, new approaches in industrial policy aim to create a favorable environment for the development of the industry. An analysis of the development of industrial policy in the European Union is interesting and useful for several reasons. First, it sublimates different national economic interests. Secondly, it starts from a proactive attitude towards the implementation of activities focused on the harmonization of industrial systems and the promotion of market competition. In contemporary conditions, the EU industrial policy tends to adapt to the dynamic flows of industrial, technological and social development of the society.
