Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to measure the technical efficiency of commercial banks in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and to analyze its determinants. To achieve this goal, on an unbalanced panel of 10 commercial banks observed from 2005 to 2019, the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) followed by two Truncated Regression (TR) models and the Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) were used. Return on Equity (ROE), loans, deposits, female workforce, number of branches, type of ownership, seniority, liquidity ratio, inflation rate, money supply growth rate, key interest rate and required reserve ratio are the significant covariates identified in this study. In addition, the most technically efficient sampled banks are: BOA, Ecobank, Equity Bank, Rawbank, Sofibanque and TMB. However, in terms of cost-efficiency, commercial banks in DRC operate on a sub-optimal scale.
