Summary/Abstract: The article examines the understudied activities of Karelian press associated with shaping the ideological discourse during the Great Patriotic War. The author conducts the analysis of archival documents and newspaper materials introduced into scientific circulation for the first time in order to investigate the issue of local press using the potential created during the pre-war years as a result of the Cultural Revolution. The aim is to analyze the printed media system, journalists’ activities, the tools of the press involved in the formation of the wartime ideological discourse, and their role in mobilizing the population of the frontline territory of Karelia. The content of the newspaper publications is studied by the discourse analysis method. The research opens up the possibility for a fundamental study and preparation of a monograph on the history of Karelian press during the war period.
