Summary/Abstract: Background: Nowadays Emergency Departments of the hospitals are one of the most overcrowded. From the mid of XX-th century, when these departments were first established there is a constant increase into medical authorities demands and populations expectations related to the medical care provided within these hospital structures. The beginning was set by physician from other departments engaging themselves into life-saving medical aid provision on voluntary basis. The voluntary principle was very rapidly changed by duty roster including day and night shifts covered by specialist of different departments on day or week rotation. Last decades emergency medical support experience have proved the necessity of formation of emergency medical teams to be engage only into emergency medicine and therefore working constantly on 12-hours duty shifts into emergency departments. Aim: The objective of this study is to present some of the medical teams psychological challenges related to the work into emergency departments. Materials and Methods: In order to achieve the set goal the means of descriptive method were applied for depicting some of the features of the emergency department daily activities that are challenging the psychological endurance of the medical staff. These challenges are compared with the reported from emergency medics symptoms of anxiety, disturbed or impaired concentration and sleep, depressive thoughts and other signals for psychological exhaustion. Conclusion: As a conclusions from the results from performed analyses several groups of factors leading to specific first alarming changes into the emergency medics psychological health are presented.
