Summary/Abstract: Regulation (EU) 2016/679 describes the data protection officer (DPO) as a security leader who focuses on developing, maintaining, and enforcing policies that enable organizations to comply with the provisions of the Regulation. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) recognizes the data protection officer as having a key role in the new data protection governance system and sets out the conditions for appointment, place, and role in personal data controllers.
