Summary/Abstract: The whole story of Merchant of Venice has suffered from number of metamorphosis. How does it come when the text remained untouched? Should the lawyers know that text is just a form and subject to interpretation. This applies even to the play of Merchant of Venice. My paper is going to have two spheres. The first would deal with the play itself, while the second follows the remarks of a lawyer to the very litigation and proceedings held before the Duke of Venice. Finally I try to answer the hardest question: Are Antonio and his friends a branch of anti-Semites or the Shylock simply represents a creature?
