Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the memorial coins, their legal status in the system of Czech tender and certain legal aspects of the disposal of memorial coins, in the light of new legislation from 2011. In the first part of the paper, the memorial coins are characterized and as a distinctive tender incorporated into the system of Czech tender. The following section describes the issuance and acquisition of memorial coins. The last part is based on comparison with regular coins and the most important legal aspects of the disposal of commemorative coins are pointed out.
