Summary/Abstract: In 17th-19th centuries Asenovgrad became centre of Christian cult. It was respected St. Anastasiy, St. Antoniy, St. Petka, St. Marina, St. Haralampiy, St. Ekaterina, St. Spiridon, St. Stiliyan, St. Panteleymon except largely honored St. Kosmas and Damien, named St. Vrachove. To all of them are dedicated and built cult buildings – churches and chapels, which in some villages and in the town are more than one. There are sacred springs around some localities around holy springs. It is believed they bring health. There is rich pantheon of health and life-giving deities. The most cult buildings are through natural hills over the town they have included in entire sacred scheme, built there through centuries. They play significant role in religious life of the local people – both in the past and now.
