Summary/Abstract: In her essay, Bondy describes the position of Terezín within Israeli society and enumerates all the published literature concerning Terezín. Initially, the first generation of Israelis were hardly interested. This changed, however, with the work of scholars such as Bondy and Livia Rothkirchen, as well as the publication of Terezín survivors’ memoirs like Ruth Elias. Nevertheless, Terezín never commanded as much attention as the Warsaw ghetto. Ironically, some Israelis cherished the same myths that the Nazis tried to spread about the “advantage camp”.
