Summary/Abstract: The following article discusses some issues regarding the use of the terms ‘fiction’, ‘fictionality’, ‘fictive’, and ‘fictional’ with regard to fiction and fictional expressions or texts. The main concern of this text is to indicate the fact, that ‘fiction’ and fiction are used and treated with a certain amount of ambiguity. It is the case when literature and literary worlds are discussed both in a general context and in the scholarly treatment of these issues. Relevant terminological distinctions exist. Still, their use to name their corresponding referents lacks a certain consequence.
