Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to analysing scientific approaches to determining a direct object of the concealment of an offence (article 396 of the CCU) formed in the contemporary criminal law doctrine. The author has critically examined these approaches. The author has made a conclusion on the legal essence of the concealment of an offence, which implies facilitating the avoidance of liability by an offender, who has committed a grave or special grave offence, without assisting an offender in committing this offence.
