Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the methodological significance of the ideas of Norbert Elias on the nature and the essence of the power relations for the improvement of the practices of modern military and social management. The meaning of the concepts of «balance of power», «power differential» is revealed, the asymmetry relationship as a relationship of mutual dependence between the «strong» and «weak» is analyzed. The mediated effects of the power, that forms the «anonymous power of an organization», the «structural power» or «due to circumstances» in complex structures, such as military structures, are traced. Particular attention is paid to the value of Norbert Elias’ conclusion for the military and social management as for the anthropological consequences of power and power relations, including the statement about the power as a structural feature of all human relations, which forms the effect of «omnipresence» of power, the relative nature of the power (it cannot «be possessed», it is established as the interaction of at least two people), a dynamism, power changeability, the presence of the power balance not only between the individuals but also between the groups, etc.
