Summary/Abstract: The review of the West European and South Slavic versions of the Cinderella tale (which in the international index of motifs is indicated by AT 510 A), shows that this type of tale has a long history - it is very old and very widespread story (witnessed/ perceived even in the 9th century in China). This text deals with South Slavic versions of the popular fairy tale Cinderella, which in some sense is underestimated and boost in the background, as opposed to western European favored versions of the same tale. By treating the Macedonian version of Cinderella, the study aims to promote and rehabilitate the South Slavic versions, which in several key segments differ from western European model. The delicate sequence of transforming Cinderellaís` mother into a cow, following with the ritual cannibalism (necrophagy- matriphagy), represent the archaic element and a relic from surpassed times. At issue is the explicit ritualem- from the cult of dead ancestors (extremely ressistant cult in the Old Slavic tradition) with serious signals of the presence of certain totemistic performances and taboos. The metamorphosis of the dead ancestor is given in the Western versions as well, but there it usually emphasize the animistic concept - the universal image of the soul's transformation into a tree or bird. Despite these animist solutions in the South Slavic versions across survival from totemistic perceptions - the metamorphosis into a cow is characteristic for the versions circulating in the East (which fully corresponds with zoolatriquecults from the totemistic provenance, such as the Indias cult of the holy mother- cow). In the Macedonian version is possible to detect a number of ritualems- from the cult of dead ancestors: the burial of dead kin (bones) in the fireplace (which in the Old cult is a place reserved for the dead ancestors), the cult activities undertaken by the heroine over the bones - bones ritual vigil over the deceased and etc. All that sugests that the South Slavic versions of the Sinderella, are more arhaic than West Slavic - versions, which has completly lost the conection with this powerful cult of the dead ancestors.
