Summary/Abstract: During the World War II Turkey did not follow a neutral foreign policy. The best expression that describes his foreign policy is his stay out of the war. During the war, various treaties were signed with England, France and Germany. Although this situation made Turkey a partial country, Turkey was not among the belligerent countries. President İsmet Inonu followed a protective and cautious policy during the war. Having undertaken important duties during the War of Independence and witnessed the hard times of the Turkish Nation, Inonu predicted the possible consequences of putting Turkey into such a war. During the war, important decisions were taken and implemented in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey under the leadership of Inonu. The fact that most of the decisions were taken unanimously is important in terms of demonstrating the unity and solidarity of Turkey during the war years.
