Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the concept and the role of customer orientation in creating innovation. To assess customer orientation the authors used a tool developed on the basis of the concept of J.C. Narver and S.F. Slater. When selecting companies, the authors were guided by the level of effectiveness of organization functioning and development, reflected in competitive advantage. Finally, a manufacturing company registered in Świętokrzyskie region was selected.
