Summary/Abstract: In this review the author deals with key elements of the case known as Bosniaks, the nation whose identity was challenged as a result of specific historical process and complex and dramatic political condition by the end of the 19th and the beginning of 20th century. The author here discusses processes that caused first abandoning and later reclaim of disputed historical name of the nation. This review also brings a brief insight into the facts concerning language and alphabets of Bosniaks, features of current dispute concerning the name Bosnian of the mother tongue of Bosniaks and correlation of the Bosnian language with the Serbian and the Croatian languages inside Bosnia and Herzegovina and further. The issue of homeland and the state of Bosniaks from the earliest form of government within which Bosniaks lived to the modern state of Bosnia and Herzegovina of today is also briefly observed.
