Summary/Abstract: The main aim of this paper is to give an information about life and work of the well known Croatian philosopher and aesthetician Pavao Vuk-Pavlovic (1894- 1976) and then to present his significant stay in Macedonia from the end of 50-ies until the beginning of the 70-ies of the previous century. The paper continue with an analysis of a less known poetic work of this philosopher, mainly his poetry book "Ruins" (1964) with the subtitle "Sonnets for Skopje", written immediately after the earthquake in Skopje in the summer of the year 1963. The analysis of the sonnets from this poetry book is elaborated from the position of the aesthetical idea of the "sublime" and in the context of the historical and philosophical ideas about "sublimity" in/of the nature.
