Summary/Abstract: After the middle of the 19th century, road construction was given importance in the Ottoman Empire and thus a road connecting the inner parts to the coast in the Black Sea region came to the fore. However, priority was given to Trabzon-Erzurum Road in road construction and the Rize-Erzurum Road remains in the background. Rize-Erzurum Road was reconsidered with the Republic regime. Intense studies started on this road, especially between 1930-35. However, the necessary support could not be provided. In this study, we discussed how and when the Rize-Erzurum Road came to the agenda, the work done on the road and the aid to the road, how important the road was for the people of Rize and the region. We tried to evaluate the period up to 1950. The period after 1950 wil constitute the second part of the study. Studies in this way are very important. Because it took a long time to build and found thousands of volunteers.
