Summary/Abstract: This study approaches the peculiarities of the evolution of the cybercrime phenomenon in Romania. After analyzing the manifestation forms of this phenomenon, I noticed that apparently, (approximately) every five years considerable evolutions/trends became apparent; I have grouped these features/trends into six distinct periods, as follows: the first three ones, when the cybercrime phenomenon appeared, was strengthened and grew bigger (a first period which seems to have come to an end in 196, a second period which seems to reflect the years 1997-2001, and a third one which is specific to the years 2002-2006), and the last three periods, respectively, when the cybercrime phenomenon registered a consistent increase and considerable changes (a fourth period, seemingly specific to the years 2007-2011, a fifth one, specific to the years 2012-2016 and a final one, which seems to have started in the year 2017). Following the analysis of the statistic evolution of some indicators such as registered and solved files, as well as number of defendants under arraignment, I noticed that, from 2006 (when centralized official public data on this phenomenon started to be available) until 2016/2017 a steady increase has been visible in respect of most of the above-mentioned indicators.
