Artificial intelligence and global distribution of power

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to show that the development and application of AI are connected to specific political interests and the power struggle between great world powers. Powerful states and big corporations invest heavily in the development of AI and its application in various fields, from advertising to missiles. So it is plausible to assume that they believe that successful application of AI will maintain or increase their wealth and power. In this paper the author compares different national strategies regarding AI in the global power struggle, as well as possible outcomes. The story of artificial intelligence can be seen as an old power struggle story. But it is also a new one – because now not only humans are in the game. AI changes the way we perceive the distribution of power in world politics and predict possible outcomes.
